Del Mar College department of music hosted the annual Percussion Ensemble on November 19 in the Wolfe Recital Hall.
The show was directed by Neil Sisauyhoat. The percussion performed four songs. “Four Miniatures” by Dave Alcorn, “Music For Pieces Of Wood” by Steve Reich, “Nalu” by Francisco Perez and “Battlestations II” by Rich Holly.
The funds were not previously available for summer classes After six years, Pell Grants are once again available for summer classes. Year round Pell Grants have not been available since 2012 for summer if students were full-time during both fall and spring. Students who were full-time and receiving Pell Grants during the regular school year would have to pay out of pocket if they wanted to continue their education in the summer. Foghorn staff attended the National College Media Association/Associated Collegiate Press Convention in New Orleans. The event took place Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 and provided the opportunity for students to collaborate with other newspapers across the country, sharing experience and expertise. The convention offered a wealth of speaker sessions, covering topics that challenged attendees to think creatively, act ethically, and work both logically and legally in the field of journalism. From discussions on investigative reporting techniques to workshops on multimedia storytelling, the sessions provided valuable insights for students to bring back to their newsrooms. Veronica Barrera/Foghorn A demolition crew begins tearing down the Corner Market. The property was purchased for $550,000. It is located by the CED building on South Staples Street. In August 2015 the Board of Regents approved the purchase of property at 3201 S. Staples St. for plans to clean up the area. The property, near the college’s Center for Economic Development at the corner of South Staples and Kostoryz, was once a gas station and convenience store. The location was worn down and had broken-down vehicles overgrown grass and old tires. The property was purchased for $550,000. The cleanup work…
