The Coastal Bend will be home to a new indoor football team, the Corpus Christi Tritons. The community can look forward to kicking off the 2024 season in March at the American Bank Center. Kevin Cecil is not only the owner of the Corpus Christi Tritons, but also a law enforcement officer for the city of New Braunfels who has a passion for arena football. Dominic Perez dperez@foghornnews.com All basketball fans should be rejoicing as we are truly in the thick of all things basketball — the NCAA Tournament is in its final stages, the NBA playoffs are right around the corner and 5-on-5 intramural basketball is here. With all this basketball going on it’s troubling that there is another drop in participation for intramurals even with the gym floor finally being finished and being put to use. Last semester only 3-on-3 half-court games were allowed because of the semi-start of rebuilding the gym floor, but there was abundance of teams ready to play. This…
The first intramural tournament of the spring semester will be 3v3 basketball, beginning on Monday, Feb. 10. Games will be played from 2:30-4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and will run until the championship on Feb. 24. All teams will play on each game day. The tournament will be a double round robin format meaning that every team will play each other twice regardless of how many wins or losses they have. If a team fails to show up on a game day then they will receive losses for the games scheduled on that day. Each basket will count as…
