On September 19 Del Mar College Intramurals kicked off the fall semester with a fun night at Sk8land starting at 7:00 p.m. with fun games and snacks provided. The event ended around 9:00 p.m. where Valdar posed for pictures with students, and did his best to show off his skating skills. Leaks and subsequent mold growth in rooms in the Fine Arts Center has for months gone untreated and led to the closure of areas meant to serve the students.In addition, the heating and air conditioning system meant to prevent such problems is nearly four decades old. Some call him Jovi or Chaplin others may call him Kitler. But whatever name he answered to, the loss of the black-and-white cat has been felt all over campus. His body was found by Del Mar College staff on the morning of Sept. 23 next to the Harvin Center. His death is not the first, as two other cats were found dead on campus in recent weeks. Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus is offering a new cooking course, “Secrets of the Chef!” during the Fall semester. According to, Franny Jackson, Program Manager for Continuing and Community Education, the beginner-friendly class explores a variety of world cuisines, with each session focusing on a different culinary style. “It’s our commitment to the community to offer fun, personal enrichment classes. We offer a great night out, with a Del Mar feel,” said Jackson. Classes will be held on select dates throughout the fall semester, with upcoming sessions scheduled for Oct. 11, Oct. 19, and Oct. 25.
