Colors fly at Del Mar’s spring Color Run

The Del Mar College Color Run is an annual pre-spring break tradition at the Heritage Campus, inviting students, staff, and faculty to come together for a day of high-energy activity. The 2026 Color Run on March 4 saw participants navigate a specific route around campus while being blasted with vibrant colors and running through foam bubbles. With loud music and local food, the environment was positive and inviting.

“Just seeing all the people together united either with classes, just passing by, or even from work – looking at everyone have fun and taking a break from their homework made me realize that having this event is what we need to come together as one to enjoy a day or even a couple hours before going back to classes,” said volunteer Tonya Riggen.

Beyond the fitness aspect, the run helps connect the campus community and brings exposure to future collegiate events. Among the crowd was Del Mar student Revel Wick, who participated for the second year in a row—and won.

“I participate in this run because I’m very passionate about sports and acting for film and TV,” Wick said. “My dream is to become the next Flash. My motivation for being in this run is to be noticed by Del Mar staff and students alike, to go back-to-back with wins, and to train for the physique required for that role.”

Winning two years in a row is a feat of discipline that Wick attributes to a higher purpose. “The reason I’m trying to win back-to-back is simple: I’m doing it all for the Lord,” he explained. “I’m following His plan and doing my hardest to make Him smile by going through character development and improving as a man day by day.”

Currently studying kinesiology, Wick is working toward certifications in coaching and personal training to complement his acting career. He hopes this “small achievement” on campus will bring more exposure to his journey. By balancing his physical training with his faith and career goals, Wick is proving that at Del Mar, the finish line is just the beginning.
