Conquer the Coast bike ride hosted by United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce
On Saturday, Sept. 20, the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce held its annual Conquer the Coast bike ride in downtown Corpus Christi. Del Mar College Testing Center employee Teresa Janice, 62, competed in the race. “It was an exhausting and challenging moment for me because I had to maintain my biking endurance for more than 20 miles. At the beginning, it was so easy, but after 10 miles, I started to feel the tiredness and soreness building up in my system,” Janice said. Halloween Fun Run — don’t be scared
Annual 5K run features prizes for best costumes Del Mar College will host its annual Halloween 5K run at 3 p.m. Oct. 29. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend this year’s run to enjoy lots of door prizes and free smoothies courtesy of Smoothie King. The run is being held at the East Campus gymnasium/track; everyone is encouraged wear their best costume, with prizes given for the top two. The top 15 runners will also receive a free event T-shirt. The spirit of intercollegiate sports lives on
More than half a century has passed since Del Mar College last had an intercollegiate athletics program in 1965, but there are still some in this city who would like to keep the competitiveness alive. Omar Salinas II, a locally raised sports enthusiast, aims to do that by building a baseball team with players from around Corpus Christi.
