Students and friends gathered in the Heritage Campus gym to battle it out in the 1v1 basketball tournament starting on Monday, Oct. 6. Games were 5 minutes long or the first to score 11 points with every basket counting as 1 point. Through the first two days of the tournament, Ryan Izaguirre leads all students with an impressive 5-1 record. Yorktown Christian Academy held their 16th annual Lions Run 5/10k on Saturday, Feb. 7. The race had 13 age groups and three different race options: a 5k, 10k, and a two-mile walk. The event started with the opening ceremonies at 7:30 a.m., including a color guard from Cub Scout Troop 226 and the national anthem. Then, the crowd moved to the lawn for the Mascot Race, followed by the Kiddie Race. The Mascot Race involved a Chick-fil-a cow, H-E-Buddy, Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse, and YCA’s Leo the Lion running a race and then turning around to cheer on…

The not-so-good news: We’ve proven that journalists and math aren’t the best off friends, as we grossly miscalculated our goal for this semester in our last issue. As a team we would love to entertain the idea of completing 15,000 miles, but realistically, some of us want to survive to see graduation in May.
