CC Murals stand against threats, embracing the future

Over the last few decades, Corpus Christi has been painted with murals that shape the city with historical and memorable artwork. And now the 5th annual Downtown Corpus Christi Mural fest will be bringing five new murals to the city. Between May 30 and June 6, six artists will be painting the future of public artwork in Corpus Christi. A night of boleros and rancheras with Mariachi Del Mar

Mariachi Del Mar is set to perform on Heritage Campus in the Wolfe Recital Hall. The mariachi band’s 14 members perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. The performance will also feature two guest players Mr. Edmundo and Mr. Edalio from the local mariachi group, Mariachi Mexicanisimo.  Mariachi Mexicanisimo performs traditional Mexican folk music in the genres of boleros and rancheras. “The audience should expect to have a great show, with some great music that is in the mariachi world, lots of loved music,” Del Mar Mariachi member Alejandro Carrisalez said.

The Siren collaborative art installation attracts student creatives

The Siren literary and art magazine is accepting submissions through May 13. The theme for the 2026 magazine is NEO. NEO blends aspects of 1980s expressionist movement and graffiti street art in the European vineyard/countryside with accents of bright colors, urban, nature, and travel. Part of the art featured in the magazine design will incorporate an interactive art project the Siren staff hosted March 16. Del Mar’s Career Fair brought students together, offering multiple job opportunities in STEM, Hospitality, and Culinary-related fields. Striking a chord for music education

Music Major Day at Del Mar kicks off on Feb. 16, striking a chord to reach aspiring musicians seeking to pursue their education in the music industry. Last year, several high school students attended Music Major Day and were inspired to pursue their education through this event. The Del Mar College Scholarship Foundation has awarded nearly $3 million in scholarships this academic year, making college affordable and accessible for every student who is awarded. The foundation announced that they have awarded $2.85 million to about 1,431 students for the 2025-2026 academic year. Students can apply for scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year at https://dmcfoundation.awardspring.com/ now through April 30.
