Little Shop getting ready to feast at Finley

Del Mar Drama’s cast and crew are deep in preparation for the fall production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” which debuts Nov. 5 “Little Shop of Horrors” is a dark comedy musical based on the 1960 film of the same name. It follows the story of a clumsy flower shop worker, Seymour Krelborn, who discovers an exotic, conscious plant with malicious intentions. Most recently, Aurora Arts Theatre performed the musical in the summer of 2023, and it is coming back to Corpus Christi at the Sue Sellors Finley Theatre on the Heritage Campus. Have you ever heard the phrase “don’t show them how the sausage is made?” For two months, that’s exactly what I had to do to the team I was leading. I recently produced and directed my first theatrical production, “The Trail to Oregon!” under Fifth Wall Company, the same group that brought you “tick, tick…BOOM!” earlier in the year. Beyond the stage: Robyn Valentine builds community through drag

A federal judge ruled Aug. 25 that Texas’ restrictions on certain drag show performances were unconstitutional. The ruling pauses the enforcement of Senate Bill 12, which restricts certain sexually oriented performances on public property or in the presence of minors, and had been temporarily in effect since March while the case was being appealed. Over the past two years, I’ve been a part of Corpus Christi’s theater scene. In that same time, I’ve been through a few shows here at Del Mar College as well.
