Comforting canines come through to DMC

The Del Mar College Counseling Center hosted Go Team Therapy Dogs at all campuses in preparation for finals season. The Go Team Therapy Dogs are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to have handler-dog teams offer relief, care and assistance to those in need. The dogs visited all Del Mar campuses from Nov. 28-30, allowing all students to interact with the dogs and participate in the activities. “The dogs help decrease anxiety, stress, relax your heart rate, which provides more of a relaxing atmosphere for the students,” said Go Team member Lisa Olmos. Library hours set to change

Both the White Library on East Campus and the Barth Learning Resources Center on West Campus will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 19 for Christmas break. Special hours will be offered 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday Jan. 3-12, with the libraries closing at 12:30 p.m. Fridays and closed on the weekend. Del Mar College is a nontraditional school so it caters to students in a variety of situations. For Tabitha Claypool, a nursing major, a quiet place is hard to come by when trying to manage a full house. “I have four kids so I can put them to bed then I can go study in my bedroom,” Claypool said.
