White Library partially reopens for the Spring 2025 semester

The White Library on Del Mar’s Heritage campus is now partially reopened for the Spring 2025 semester. Patrons can access the first, second and third floors while workers complete renovations and furniture placement on the fourth and fifth floors. The library has been closed for five years, beginning in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and then when renovations began in 2021. White Library construction coming to a close

Heritage Campus’s William F. White Jr. Library is expected to reopen sometime in spring of next year, with all planned services moved in and operational. According to John Strybos, Vice President and Chief Physical Facilities Officer for Del Mar College, the White library renovations are set to be complete in September of this year. As of Aug. 21, the college is awaiting the final certificate of occupancy from the city, with plans to begin moving in furniture by Sept. 3. A new year brings new updates on DMC construction, and possibly new project announcements as well. As far as the highly anticipated new White Library on Heritage Campus, Cody Gregg, dean of learning resources, said he hopes the renovated building will open this summer. “We would like to be able to open the library up by June/July, bet there are a few things that are going on with construction that may delay this,” Gregg said.
