SEMMO to host social media seminar

Some might feel the social media age is leaving them in the dust. But a group on campus can help get people up to speed.

“Google with the Geeks,” a free training seminar presented by Science, Engineering and Math Majors Registered Student Organization (SEMMO) will take place in the Venters Business Building (corner of Ayers and Edwards Street)  from 9 a.m. to noon, Feb. 16.

Attendees may learn more about Facebook, Email accounts, Twitter and sharing photos. No prior computer skills are required to attend and there will be Spanish-speaking representatives on hand as well.

Students come together to memorialize beloved campus cats

Some call him Jovi or Chaplin others may call him Kitler. But whatever name he answered to, the loss of the black-and-white cat has been felt all over campus. His body was found by Del Mar College staff on the morning of Sept. 23 next to the Harvin Center. His death is not the first, as two other cats were found dead on campus in recent weeks. Students and Small Businesses: Paid internship opportunities available

Del Mar College students can turn their current jobs at local small businesses into higher-paying internship opportunities through Del Mar College’s Small Business Internship Program (SBIP).  SBIP is a resource available to all majors and small businesses that are in Nueces County with 49 employees or fewer. “The program is funded by the City of Corpus Christi to aid small businesses in business growth, economic development and increase job retention,” Program Coordinator Jacqueline Roberson said. “While also giving students the chance to gain hands-on experience in their field of study before inserting into the professional workforce.” According to Roberson, businesses…
