Del Mar College will host the 18th annual Coastal Bend GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day, “GIS Technology is Changing our World,” on Nov. 16. The event organizers will be offering two tracks, which will be targeting middle through high school and college age students while also having a track for professionals already in the field. The GIS Day is part of the National Geographic Society initiative “Geography Action!” This is all part of a yearlong project using key educational achievements worldwide, including the Coastal Bend’s annual event, which is in partnership with Geography Awareness Week. Chamber Orchestra kicks off new season
Performances bring students and community together Amber Quaid / Managing editor The Corpus Christi Chamber Orchestra started off this semester’s music programs on Sept. 27 in Wolfe Recital Hall. The music selection was based on dance music through several centuries and included works from Bach and Leo Delibes. Each orchestra performance has a different musical piece. The 43-piece orchestra was made up of 14 violinists, four violas, six cellos, four bass, two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, one bassoon, two horns, three trumpets, two trombones and one percussionist. Josselyn Obregon @JTO_News A former Del Mar College student says the institution, which promotes chasing dreams, has put her dreams on hold. Delia Susana, 24, is benefited by DACA program. Susana came to the United States as a baby. She started studies at a Valley school then moved to Corpus Christi with her family after high school and entered Del Mar College. She remembers her first experience to Del Mar College as a dream come true.
