Selection is based on student scholarship, leadership and participation in Registered Student Organizations. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

  Maria Lara Reporter The Del Mar College Foreign Language Club and the Spanish Department are hosting their annual Fiesta Mexicana. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The Foreign Language Club will be creating a festival to help celebrate this important day in Hispanic history. The day will be filled with traditional Mexican food and music, a live performance of Mexican folk dance, Mariachis and a short reading of Cinco de Mayo. Artist illustrates life in 1940s America

  Meagan Falcon Web editor Nationally recognized guest artist Richard Chandler Hoff visited Del Mar College on April 22 to introduce students to his beautiful illustrations of life in America during the 1940s. The lecture covered his artistic work, “Are Shadows Not Substantial Things?” Hoff displayed dozens of images of his artwork on a slideshow and explained to students the backstories of each drawing. Each drawing was done in graphite pencil on paper. “I draw my artwork in graphite pencil so that it can match up to a black and white photograph,” Hoff said. “I believe it is appropriate because…

Samantha Douty Managing editor   Del Mar College business honors society students travelled to Little Rock, Arkansas, to compete at the National Leadership Conference on April 16-19, supported by the Del Mar Foundation, the Alpha Psi chapter of the Del Mar’s Alpha Beta Gamma, an international business honors society. Janie Blankenship and Dr. Neetu Kaushik of the Department of Business Administration attended as sponsors. Harvin Center proves to be a delicious choice

Any time I have ever gone there for a break, I am met with friendly staff and am able to check out with my food of choice quickly.
