Del Mar College will host the Viking Fall Carnival on Oct. 30. The festival has been going on for over 25 years and is open to students, staff and members of the community.
Prizes for best costumes will be given away and there will be food and fun for everyone.
“The community looks forward to this event every year,” said Beverly Cage, director of Student Leadership and Campus life at Del Mar College. “All volunteer hours will count through the Viking Volunteer Program. At the end of their time here at Del Mar, students receive a volunteer shirt with a medallion and they wear it with the cap and gown.
A contestant gets in the Halloween spirit during a recent Fall Carnival. This year’s events will be held from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the Harvin Student Center.
There will be over 20 booths with games, food and activities. Tickets cost 25 cents each; cash is not accepted at the booths. The majority of the booths are held by Del Mar’s students to help benefit their organization. It is the largest fundraising opportunity at Del Mar College.
The festival is sponsored by Student Leadership and Campus Life and DMC-registered student organizations.
Clubs will be setting up all day and the event run from 5-10 p.m. in the Harvin Center on East Campus.
