With school finally back in session, Del Mar College took efforts to make the transition from winter break back to school a little more bearable. Fun activities were available on both campuses, including live music, caricatures and a Stamp-A-Ring event.

“We’re trying to hold events to get students engaged on campus,” said Danielle Garcia, who helped handle the caricature event. Students had the option to get their cartoon selves drawn on shirts, magnets, cups and hats for free.

“We’ve had other artists here before,” Garza said. “We just try to get students involved.”

The college also brought in a musician to entertain.

“I feel welcome,” Victor Rojas said after listening to Jared Mahone, the live musician who played his guitar in the Harvin Center. “I like that they hired a musician. It shows that Del Mar cares about their students.”

Student Daniel Soliz said the event helped him during a stressful week.

“I actually like these things,” Soliz said. “It’s a fun little break.”
