A group will be selling flowers for Valentine’s Day

Education society set to raffle off Ipad 3

The Del Mar College Education Society is raffling off a new 64 GB iPad 3 that includes 4G LTE, is worth $600, and all you have to do is simply buy a $5 raffle ticket for your chance to win. For the past three years, around this time, the Education Society has been successful in doing these raffles. The first year, $600 was raised for Toys for Tots. Vocal Vikings speech team hosts tournament, wins awards

Del Mar College hosted the Texas Intercollegiate Forensics Association’s fall speech tournament on Nov. 7. A total of 15 colleges and universities, with about 150 to 200 students, competed in debate, public address and oral interpretations. Three Del Mar College students placed in the tournament. Miguel Porfirio placed fifth in Programmed Oral Interpretation, sixth in Prose, 21st for individual top speaker in Individual Events, third top speaker from two-year schools, third in Prose on tiebreaker (Day 2), third in Programmed Oral Interpretation (Day 2), 14th for individual top speaker in Individual Events (Day 2) and fourth top speaker from two-year schools (Day 2).…

Hispanic author set to talk to students, staff

Mark your calendar for two amazing events that will take place here on campus brought to you by the Cultural Programs Committee. Children and young adult author Diane Gonzales Bertrand will be on campus. She is a Hispanic author who writes about young Latinas and how they set career goals as college-educated women and show how spontaneous these women can be. DMC offers fall films to students

Contributed photo Del Mar College Curricular Enrichment is screening free films for students every Friday this semester. The films are chosen by the professors of the film appreciation classes. Each film relates to the time period it is being shown. For example, from mid-September to mid-October, Hispanic films were shown for Hispanic Heritage Month. To celebrate Halloween, “The Devil’s Backbone” will be shown on Oct. 30. The staff tries to focus on films that are fun, educational and interesting.
