Former history professor Bruce Olson sued the college in June 2012, after Olson felt the college was breaching a contract that had come from mediation of a settlement from two previous lawsuits Olson had filed against the college. During mediation from the first two lawsuits, Del Mar College agreed to allow Olson to participate in an early retirement program if he promised to drop the lawsuits and release Del Mar College from liability. Good news for science majors

Danial Nasr Azadani was in South Texas for an extended visit with his family when he decided to take some classes. “I actually looked into TAMU-CC initially but the out-of-state tuition was just too much,” Azadani said. “So I met with Dr. Hatherill and toured the lab.” Azadani was more than impressed with Robert Hatherill, assistant professor of biology. “I signed up for two classes, and they were the best two classes I’ve ever taken,” he said. Students receive emergency funds to help rebuild their lives

@BrittClaramunt bclaramunt@foghornnews.com Several dozen Del Mar students have been awarded aid from the Harvey Student Assistance Fund from the Del Mar Foundation to rebuild after the Category 4 storm. So far, 61 students have been awarded grants from the fund for a total of $25,650. A large donation was giving to the Foundation by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation through the estate of Olga Doan.
