Texas 63rd annual Texas Jazz Festival

The 63rd annual Texas Jazz Festival took place in downtown Corpus Christi at Heritage Park Oct. 18-20. Bands from not only Texas but across the country were able to perform on stage. Notable bands performing included Jeff Lofton Quartet, Verve, Latin Heart, TAMUK Jazz Band, Del Mar College’s very own MWF Jazz Band, and more. Music wasn’t the only thing at the Jazz Fest, there were a variety of food trucks, vendors for clothes and household items, and art for sale. Joe’s Backyard Hosts Halloween Hardcore Bash Featuring Canadian Band

On Oct. 23, Joe’s Backyard transformed into a hub of energy as it hosted its Halloween costume-encouraged hardcore show, featuring special guests Reality Denied from Canada. The event, organized by HC Demonstrations, drew a diverse crowd eager to celebrate the hardcore scene. The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra’s “Home for the Holidays” concert is the perfect event to get anyone in the mood for the holidays. The Corpus Christi Symphony has been around since 1945, putting on such events for the community when ticket prices used to be $1.50. Now prices range from $21-$95. Rumors of indoor winter storms highlight Del Mar College Music Department’s Holiday Spectacular. “There are some rumors that it might even snow during our performance, but I can’t confirm or deny anything” said Dr. Scott Hagarty, Associate Professor of Trumpet and Jazz.
