Del Mar College recognized longtime employees May 1, in the Richardson Performance Hall on DMC’s East Campus.

Employees were recognized for their contribution to the college’s mission of providing quality education opportunities for students and excellent service and support to one another.

The recognition service is held annually each spring. Employees are recognized beginning at at five years of cumulative service, and then followed by every five-year milestone.

A total of 112 employees were recognized. Those honored enjoyed a breakfast before the ceremony.

DMC President Mark Escamilla, Ph.D., attended the service to show his support to the college’s longtime employees.

One risk of going to school is getting sick. What do we do when we are sick and don’t want to miss school, especially if there are no make-up days? Making tortillas and traditions

Maria Mata, Spanish Lab Coordinator with Del Mar College, demonstrated the simplicity of making flour tortillas from scratch to a full house during a Hispanic Heritage Month event at the Coles Classroom Building on Heritage Campus Oct. 10. All it takes is four cups of flour, one teaspoon of salt, half a cup of warm water, half a cup of shortening, and amor (love) to create this versatile traditional Mexican food.
