Yoga gives students, faculty chance to unwind

Several students and faculty members have chosen to take advantage of the free yoga classes through Del Mar’s intramurals program this semester.

“I am fairly new to instructing yoga but a dancer by trade,” said Kate Burrill, a first-year yoga instructor.

Burrill said she hopes to keep this a year-round program.

“Yoga is a safe space with every fitness level welcomed,” Burrill said.

Beatriz Alvarado, a psychology professor, has been practicing yoga for 10 years and enjoys the classes offered on campus.

“This offers a really great break focusing on wellness,” said Alvarado, who encouraged all fellow employees and students to practice yoga.

The yoga classes are offered from 1-2 p.m. Fridays in the Kinesiology Building, Room 202.

Yoga is one of the oldest physical disciplines in the world.
Lilian Bass takes part in the free yoga class on Feb. 22.
The yoga class is open to all students and employees at Del Mar College.
