Campus life returns for fall

Del Mar clubs got a chance to recruit students during Rush Week at Heritage and Windward campuses. Clubs offer the chance for students to make community on campus. Each Registered Student Organization, or RSO, does and on- and off-campus service project to help support other Del Mar students and the surrounding community. Clubs recruit new members during Rush Week

Rush Week is happening now through Sept. 16 in the Harvin Student Center on Heritage Campus and at the Coleman Center on Windward Campus. The event allows students to join and form clubs to connect with others. Santiago Le Gall said a desire to be more connected and involved at Del Mar led him to create his own club. “Board games, card games, any game with just one board” will be the focus of Le Gall’s proposed Board Game Club. DMC art professor 1 of 4 artists highlighted in library’s virtual display To commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month, Del Mar College Libraries has organized a virtual display of four South Texas artists, including two with ties to Del Mar. The virtual display will include local artists such as Del Mar College alumnus Jorge Alegría and DMC Professor of Art Amorette Garza-Morales, as well as two San Antonio-based artists, Humberto Saenz and Lauri Garcia Jones, aka Loot Achris. Aspiring photographers sell work at exhibit

Professor Jeff Jankos’ “Light and Lens” exhibition features 65 photographs taken by 23 students taken over the course of 12 weeks.  The exhibition, which opened Aug. 25, allows visitors to purchase the photos. “I think it’s important for a photographer to learn how to take great photographs but to also learn how to market their work to the public,” Janko said. “It gives the students a chance to invite the public to their exhibition and to meet the public and talk about their work.” Each semester Janko teaches three photography courses: beginning digital photography, intermediate digital photography and advanced digital…

SGA to hold first meeting of the fall semester

Del Mar Libraries hopes to raise awareness for the deaf and hard of hearing community, as well as spotlight resources to those affected, with a virtual display. The display, at www.delmar.edu/library/library-displays.html, will be up through Sept. 30 for Deaf Awareness Month.
