DMC’s bachelor’s degrees offer students a cost-effective solution

Del Mar College offers two bachelor’s degree programs, one in Nurse Education-RN to BSN and the other in Organizational Management and Leadership.  This allows students to continue their education in the Coastal Bend while also saving money. Both programs are designed for students who have already earned an associate degree and want to advance their education. Students and community members are invited to an evening of creativity and expression at the White Library on Heritage Campus on April 15.  In celebration of National Poetry month, DMC Libraries is hosting an open mic poetry event, offering a voice for all experience levels to be heard. The poetry open mic will be from 5:30-7:15 p.m. in the White Library Café.  The event will feature local Poet Laureate Alan Berecka. Vocal Vikings’ team captain continues winning streak

Del Mar College Vocal Vikings continue to find success at multiple speech and debate tournaments, led by team captain Elyda Vasquez, who has brought back trophies from every tournament she has attended since the fall semester.   In the Fall, Vasquez won second place in Poetry and Prose at the TIFA competition and first place at Nations in Programmed Oral Interpretation (POI) at the Off-Broadway Speech Tournament in New York. Corpus Christi a snooze-fest according to national study

A recent study by FinanceBuzz evaluated 75 of the nation’s largest cities to find the most boring spot. Corpus Christi landed at the number three spot. FinanceBuzz took into account multiple data points to rank the cities on an “excitement” scale from 0-100. They considered the growing population of younger people compared to older generations, along with culture, diversity and entertainment. Ranking at number one was Jacksonville, Florida with an overall excitement score of 14.3/100. Young adults historically apathetic voters

Voter turnout trends for young adults highlight a complex mix of enthusiasm and disengagement, and includes obstacles that decide whether they will show up at the polls. A 2025 study conducted by the Center of Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement by Tufts University estimates that roughly 47% of registered youth cast a ballot in the 2024 presidential election. A higher percentage of eligible 18- to 29-year-olds are engaging more strongly in the presidential elections than they are in the mid-term elections.
