City councilman, officials meet with residents to go over proposed changes City Councilman and Del Mar College history professor Jim Klein held two public hearings at Heritage Campus on Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 to discuss the City Council’s proposed changes to the city’s drought contingency plan. Running miles, bringing smiles

The Corpus Christi Food Bank hosted its 13th annual Miles for Meals 5K Run/Walk on January 21 at Waters Edge Park.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Coastal Bend Food Bank’s Kids’ Backpack program. This aims to provide a bag of nPtritious food to students who are identified as food insecure. Social media addiction can lead to real-world isolation

Studies have shown that in recent years Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and many other platforms have been linked to anxiety, loneliness and depression, causing social isolation and social displacement.  Once a student hears their notification sound, anxiety sneaks up and the brain knows there is a message.  Seeing on social media the amount of fun everyone else is having while in a four-walled room doing homework could make one a bit lonely and a tad depressing. Community Spotlight: The People of Saint Nicholas

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church hosted its annual Greek Festival Nov. 6-8. The parish’s youth danced on stage in traditional costume, as attendees enjoyed traditional Greek foods and baked goods. Looked forward to by many in Corpus Christi, the festival has been a means to support the parish and share a piece of Greek culture with the greater community for almost six decades.
