The Del Mar College Viking Voyagers Charity Group is a campus-wide initiative to raise awareness and money for causes such as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
“What the ACS does for these patients is really remarkable,” said Catherine Munoz-Myers, Relay For Life team captain. “That’s when I decided that Del Mar College, being a community college, needed to give back. Especially, since so many of us, employees and students alike, are affected by cancer and its repercussions.”
Join the DMC Viking Voyagers Relay for Life team from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
on June 27-28 at Whataburger Field and get one step closer to finding a cure. Don’t have time to spare? Donations are being accepted and any amount helps. Just $12 helps pay for a hotel room for patients having to travel to treatment centers.
If you’d like to honor a survivor or remember a lost loved one, dedicate a luminaria for $5 and enter their photo for the slideshow playing at the Relay For Life.
Any prospective team member can contact Munoz-Myers at cmunozmyers@delmar.edu or 698-1247.
The Viking Voyagers are hoping a silent auction of donated gift baskets will help fulfill their fundraising goal of $1,000 or more. The auction will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 24 in the Regents Dining Room on the second floor of the Harvin Student Center. It will be open to employees and students.
