No matter what you’re studying in college, writing is involved in everything you do. It is a skill that someone must develop to go to the next step in their studies and future career. Fortunately, Del Mar College has the Stone Writing Center to help students.

“The Stone Writing Center helps students and nonstudents with their writing skills,” said Kate Kennedy, who has worked at the center for over six years.
Kennedy said the writing center provides writing consultations, one-on-one tutoring, private study spaces and group and online tutorials. The Stone Writing Center helps with anything that has to with writing and is available to seasoned writers as well as beginners.

“I come to the Stone Writing Center every other day because I’m still learning English,” said Kevin Ignacio, a student at Del Mar College. “I come here for help on my writing assignments, and to learn as much as I can.”

Ignacio recently moved from Argentina and is still learning English. He said that when he heard about the Writing Center he went to see what it was about. When he saw how much help he could get, he started going two times a week and continues to see improvement in himself.

The Stone Writing Center isn’t just a place to do homework. It provides help and assistance whenever people need it.
“Students come in all the time with an essay or a story and ask me to proofread it and help them, and the next time they come in they have a better idea about what to do,” Kennedy said.

The Stone Writing Center makes everyone feel at home and is always willing to help. Visit the Stone Writing Center on the fourth floor of the White Library on East Campus. The center is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Appointments are not necessary but the center can be reached at 698-1364 at www.delmar.edu/swc.
