Graduation is a time to say farewell to Del Mar College and take the first steps into continued education or a career. Some students can sum it up in just three words.

“Excited,” nursing major and spring 2015 graduate Sylvia Cantu said, “very excited.”

But first, students will have to decide if they plan to walk the stage for spring commencement on May 15.

“I walked the stage two years ago, I don’t think I’ll do it again,” Cantu said.

If graduating students plan to participate and hope to attend in full cap and gown regalia, they can stop by the DMC Bookstore in the Harvin Student Center until May 14 to purchase them during regular store hours. The price for cap, gown and tassel is $32.99. Extra caps and tassels can be purchased individually — caps for $11.99 and tassels for $5.49. Graduates may order announcements, diploma frames and class rings online at www.dmcbookstore.com from the Graduation link.

The spring commencement will be held at the American Bank Center at 7 p.m. May 15. Graduates should arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. for line-up at Exhibit Hall A and bring their regalia. An information session will be held at noon on the day of commencement at the American Bank Center and cap and gown are not required at this meeting.
