Lab focuses on mathematics, macroeconomics

Students seeking extra help outside of the classroom in their math courses can now attend the brand new math and macroeconomics tutoring center located in Room 310 of the Venters Building on East Campus. The tutoring center, deemed “The Collaboratory,” will feature free student-assisted help from five tutors, with two specializing in mathematics material and the other three specializing in macroeconomics.

All tutors are properly trained and qualified to ensure students are receiving the best help possible for successful academic achievements.

Connor Hutton, a student at Del Mar and macroeconomics beginner, plans to use the program to its full extent.

Carolyn Zamorano and Lino Diaz go over course work in the new lab in the Venters Building. The tutoring center, dubbed “The Collaboratory,” features free student-assisted help from five tutors, with two specializing in mathematics material and the other three specializing in macroeconomics.

“I’m glad that someone at Del Mar has decided to add macroeconomics tutors, now I know that I have a second source of help aside from my professor that is available for me if I need them,” Hutton said.

Benefits of attending tutoring programs outside of the classroom include improved grades, a better outlook on learning or school in general, as well as an increase in positive and beneficial studying habits. Tutoring also offers a unique and individualized learning experience and a chance for little to no distraction a student may experience in a classroom full of 30 or more students.

No appointments are necessary for the tutoring program, so students are welcomed to come in at any time. Hours for the tutoring center are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays. There will be at least two tutors specializing in both math and macroeconomics at any time during operating days and hours.
