Johnny 5 comes back to life this month at the Corpus Christi Ride-In Theater’s screening of “Short Circuit.” The classic 1986 film, which features actors Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy, will screen at the Watergardens on Sept. 12 to close out the Port of Corpus Christi’s Summer Movie Series partnership with Ride-In. The film follows Number 5, a military robot who, after being experimented on, experiences an unexpected transformation when struck by lightning. Faculty members show art at annual exhibition
Artist mingle with fans, discuss works during opening night The Joseph A. Cain Memorial Art Gallery showcased original art from more than a dozen Del Mar College faculty members as it kicked off the annual Faculty Art Exhibition on Sept. 21. Artists such as Amorette Garza, Gerardo Cobarruvias, Ken Rosier and Kerstin Dale made a special appearance and greeted the crowd. The artists discussed with the guests the meanings and inspirations behind each creation. Artist draws inspiration from travels and background
Guest lecture artist Sharon Kopriva came by Richardson Performance Hall at Del Mar College’s Heritage Campus on Feb. 17 to introduce a few of her pieces that will be shown at DMC’s 56th annual National Drawing and Small Sculpture Show. Kopriva is the guest juror for the show. According to Assistant Professor of Art Benjamin Ogrodnik, Kopriva is a multidiscipline artist whose work is mysterious and timeless. Kopriva’s work consists of sculptures, drawings, and paintings. The Houston-based sculptor and painter portrays her Catholic faith through her artwork.
