Deadline to register in primaries draws near

With the first presidential election since 2012 just around the corner, many Del Mar College students will head to the ballot box for the first time. DMC has made it easy to beat the Feb. 1 deadline to register to vote in the Texas primaries. “Some buildings at Del Mar College have voter registration application displays,” history professor James Klein said. “It takes about two minutes to fill out an application. Author speaks at MLK celebration

On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. In honor of King and his activism for civil rights, Del Mar College and Texas A&M University Corpus Christi joined together to host the fourth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration on Jan. 26. The event featured keynote speaker Marc Lamont Hill. Hill is the host of Hu Post Live and BET News. Graduates sign contract with Gravity

Evangelist becoming a ‘regular’ at DMC

“Get off the bong and get on the cross,” James the Evangelist dared students on their way to class on Jan. 27. James, who prefers to not give his last name, shared his beliefs in the free speech zone in front of the Heldenfels Administration Building on Del Mar College’s East Campus. Del Mar Canvas receives major upgrades to features and design

Don’t get too comfortable with the current Canvas interface — in spring of 2016 Del Mar College will be adapting to keep up with current Canvas trends. DMC recently hosted a Canvas conference in which professors of different colleges joined together to learn the new changes. At the convention, Jace Gilbert, a Canvas employee, explained the different designs teachers most often use. He went into detail about the navigation and the usability of each of the designs.
