Maritime workers learned basic survival skills at Del Mar College on June 20 as part of a five-day training course. Students learned to put on immersion suits, how to enter the water properly in an emergency and other lessons in the course, which is required for all mariners. A $25,000 donation from the Port of Corpus Christi and a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Co. covered the costs of the 15 participants taking the course.
