This week marked the beginning of the 3 vs 3 basketball tournament at the Heritage campus gymnasium. Monday was a scrimmage day for the teams to get to know each other, while the competition began on Wednesday Feb 12. The first matchups of the day were team Trash Pandas against team Swagger, while the Ball Brothers faced off against team Got Sweat in My Eye. Intramural Sports Kicks Off with Basketball Tournament

The first intramural tournament of the spring semester will be 3v3 basketball, beginning on Monday, Feb. 10. Games will be played from 2:30-4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and will run until the championship on Feb. 24. All teams will play on each game day. The tournament will be a double round robin format meaning that every team will play each other twice regardless of how many wins or losses they have. If a team fails to show up on a game day then they will receive losses for the games scheduled on that day. Each basket will count as…

Intramural sports offer many ways to stay active, be social and have fun this semester at several Del Mar campuses. At Heritage Campus, stop by the Kinesiology building room KN202 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. for Zumba classes. In addition, the gymnasium is open for recreational use from 2:30-5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 2:30-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Del Mar College fall intramurals officially began in August, but new sports tournaments have only just started. Students learn rules to basketball

Del Mar College offers a basketball and volleyball course under the instruction of Richard Smith III. The class takes place in the Kinesiology gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. The first eight weeks students focus on basketball, and the second eight weeks on volleyball. The class is an opportunity for students to learn the rules and regulations of basketball and volleyball, allowing them to be able to referee a game or coach a team. On September 19 Del Mar College Intramurals kicked off the fall semester with a fun night at Sk8land starting at 7:00 p.m. with fun games and snacks provided. DMC kicks off Fall semester intramurals

Del Mar College’s Intramurals department, responsible for on-campus sports and athletics, is about to launch their Fall 2024 season. Multiple sports will be offered this semester. “Flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, fun runs, weekly backyard events, Zumba, water aerobics, and more,” are among the sports set said Intramurals director Carla Gamez-Vela. On top of sports, the department also offers free recreational activities for the student body. “We also have a fully equipped fitness center with weights, cardio machines, tennis courts, indoor pool, racquetball courts, fitness classes, all free of charge,” Gamez-Vela said. Intramurals holding virtual events

Students have several ways to stay active The fall semester is underway, and intramurals have also made a return.  There are several virtual fitness sessions students can join. Activities include Zumba, yoga and the 100 Mile and Steps Challenge. There will be links posted for each activity at https://www.delmar.edu/offices/kinesiology/intramurals.html.  The livestream for Zumba, which began Sept. 12, is led by Coach Perla Soliz.
