The Del Mar College Foreign Language Club and the Spanish Department are hosting their annual Fiesta Mexicana.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.

The Foreign Language Club will be creating a festival to help celebrate this important day in Hispanic history.

The day will be filled with traditional Mexican food and music, a live performance of Mexican folk dance, Mariachis and a short reading of Cinco de Mayo. Come out an enjoy fun activities that include face painting, marriage ceremonies, Mexican loteria, piñatas and more. There will be something for everybody for all ages.

The festival will also have traditional Mexican foods like delicious tamales, horchatas, aguas frescas and pan de dulce. Don’t miss out on all the fun and come out and help celebrate at Fiesta Mexicana.

The celebration will take place at the Garcia Science Buildings next to the Coles Building. The event is open and free to everyone. It runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 6.
