Students looking to get the most out of their college experience may want to check out Rush Week, set for Sept. 14-18 in the Harvin Center. Anyone who wants to get involved with a cause or just make new friends can find those with similar interests as dozens of campus clubs set up booths and recruit new members.
Clubs such as the Biology & Health Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Press Club, Del Mar Guild of Gamers and more are existing clubs that may be present at Rush Week. A variety of clubs support many areas of interest, and Rush Week will be available in the Harvin Center all day throughout the week showcasing some of the clubs available to students.
For students whose interests lean toward a club that isn’t offered at Del Mar, the best place to start is Student Leadership and Campus Life, located in the Harvin Center in Room 105. A club account form will provide a list of guidelines and requirements such as a necessary faculty adviser and minimal officer requirements, but the staff at Student Leadership and Campus Life will help with the details, and the new group could possibly set up in time for Rush Week.
New and existing clubs that want to remain active in the fall semester need to turn in necessary paperwork before the end of September.
For a complete list of existing clubs or more information on starting a club, contact Beverly Cage, director of Student Leadership and Campus Life, at 698-1280 or visit her in Room 105 in the Harvin Center.
