A family band with country roots: Texas Bloodline brings, family, community, and music together on stage

In South Texas, live country music continues to play an important role in shaping local culture and bringing people together. From Corpus Christi to surrounding areas across the Coastal Bend, local bands create spaces where people can gather, relax and connect through familiar songs and shared experiences. Among those contributing to the local music scene is Texas Bloodline, a family band whose connection goes beyond the music they perform.

Texas Bloodline consists of lead singer Jesse Lopez, lead guitarist Eric Lopez, drummer Jesse Ryan Lopez and bassist Sam Allred, a close family friend. Together, the group performs a mix of traditional and modern country music, blending recognizable sounds with their own style while remaining connected to the community that supports live music across South Texas.

For Jesse Lopez, performing alongside his sons has become one of the most meaningful parts of his experience as a musician. After more than 25 years of playing music, he said he never expected to one day share the stage with his children in such a personal way.

“As a father being a musician for over 25 years, I would have never imagined having my two sons sharing the stage with me,” Jesse Lopez said. “It’s a feeling I can’t explain. I’m cherishing every minute, every strum, every beat of the drum, every note we play together. I’m truly blessed.”

He said the family connection often resonates with audiences and creates an environment that feels welcoming to a wide range of listeners.

“Music in general brings people together, but when people realize we are a family band, I think it resonates with the crowd even more,” he said. “We pride ourselves in catering to our crowd by playing older and current country music. My hope is to continue building a fan base around the Coastal Bend. As a whole, we love playing for our hometown with a smile on our face, playing music that brings people of all ages together.”

Growing up surrounded by music influenced Eric Lopez’s development as a guitarist. He said his sound reflects both traditional country influences and his own personal interpretation of the genre, shaped by artists known for defining modern country guitar tones.

“The way I’ve developed my own sound on guitar is from growing up with my family playing country music, specifically ‘90s country with extra twang and very raw guitar tones and techniques from Brent Mason,” Eric Lopez said. “Brad Paisley has also been a big influence on me from the lightning-fast licks he plays while mixing traditional and modern sounds.”

Eric Lopez said performing with family creates a strong sense of familiarity and trust that helps the band feel more connected during live performances.

“Playing in front of people anywhere from small to large crowds like Brewster Street has been more fun than anything because being up there with my brother and dad, there’s a big connection and similar feeling we share as a band,” he said. “Since I grew up with them, we share the same music taste and that translates with our playing. It’s as if we say things just with a simple look, almost like we read each other’s mind.”

Drummer Jesse Ryan Lopez said performing at venues the band once hoped to play has been a memorable part of their journey. One of those moments included the opportunity to open for country artist Jarrod Birmingham at Brewster Street Icehouse.

“My favorite memory so far has to be when we had the chance to open for country artist Jarrod Birmingham at Brewster Street for a DPS officer that lost his life,” Jesse Ryan Lopez said. “We had always wanted to play Brewster Street Icehouse for a while, and it felt good that we were so excited to finally get the chance to perform.”

He said the band hopes audiences leave  performances feeling engaged and excited about live country music.

“I always hope that the audience feels excited to hear us and I hope that we can catch the attention of the audience with maybe a song they’ve heard or maybe a song they liked enough that will make them want to come back,” he said.

As someone who joined the band as a family friend, bassist Sam Allred said the group’s connection is built on trust, respect and a shared appreciation for music.

“From the outside looking in, you might think I’d feel different, but once you’re in it, you realize it’s not just about blood. It’s about trust, chemistry and shared passion for the music,” Allred said. “I’ve never felt like an outsider. Instead, it feels like I earned my place through the work, the shows and the connection we all have on stage and off.”

Allred said the band aims to stay true to traditional country roots while continuing to develop its own sound within the local music scene.

“We bring a sound that stays true to Texas and country roots, but at the same time we make it our own,” he said. “We balance between tradition and originality, which is what sets us apart and keeps people coming back.”

As Texas Bloodline continues performing throughout Corpus Christi and surrounding communities, the group remains focused on creating meaningful experiences through live music. Through their shared passion and family connection, the band contributes to a tradition of country music that continues to bring people together across the Coastal Bend.

In a region where live music plays an important role in local culture, Texas Bloodline represents how family, community and music can come together to create something that resonates both on and off the stage.
