Students line up to save lives during on-campus blood drives

Sarah Fecht Reporter   The Coastal Bend Blood Center visited Del Mar College’s East Campus Feb. 16-18 seeking blood donors. The Mobile Blood Drive Department comes to East and West campuses at least once a month and stays for two to three days in hopes that students and faculty will be willing to donate blood to give life to others. “Giving blood is important because blood cannot be manufactured, it can only be taken from someone else,” said Megan Hunt, a lobotomy assistant for the Coastal Bend Blood Mobile and a Del Mar College nursing student. “By each donation, people…

El Alteño offers many options for those on budget Living in Corpus Christi makes it easy to find a Mexican restaurant. It seems there is one on almost every corner, so finding one within walking distance of East Campus was no problem. We decided to go to Taqueria el Alteño, at 2601 Ayers St. We were sure to find a homemade Mexican meal plus a drink for $10 or less. POBLANO PRINCESS We were greeted as soon as we took our seats and were given complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were so hard it made me wonder how long they were under the…

Binge drinking popular, report says

The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, which, according…

Lack of regulation means labels may not be correct Anastasia Talarantas / Reporter Weather you’re a college student, a graduate with a career or a stay-at-home parent, everyone needs energy to go about their day. As recently as a decade ago, coffee was the go-to pick-me-up of choice for many people. However, with the recent rise in energy drinks, it seems like coffee has new competition. “When I drink a Red Bull I feel like my energy is unlimited,” said Del Mar College student Joshua Perez. “After a few hours, I feel miserable and tired, I feel like I need…
