Master sculptors and amateur artists hit the Port Aransas beach the weekend of April 24 and participated in the three-day Sandfest competition. Spectators surrounded the artists and watched the progression of their creations, while children created art of their own in the Guppy Zone.

Rainy weather hindered the scupltors’ work, but Sandfest continued under overcast skies and the surrounding puddles provided more entertainment for the children.

Vendors spread along the shoreline offering food, activities, clothes, trinkets, jewelry, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and music.

After passing the large sand sculpture that featured Sandfest sponsors, the master sculptors displayed their forming creations as they spent the weekend building them. Winners were announced April 26.

Winners
