The last Friday of every month, the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts Food Truck Fridays downtown near the American Bank Center. The event is free for all ages and pets are welcome.

“I think the Food Truck Friday is needed especially working here at the American Bank Center,” said Kristen Bily, American Bank Center employee. “We have so many events happening and this is the ideal thing for them to come out and get a break and grab some food. As an employee, its nice to enjoy lunch out here in the sun!”

Eight trucks were on hand for a recent gathering, each focusing on a specialty such as seafood, German and barbecue.

“I love it. It’s about time Corpus Christi is incorporating what other big cities in Texas are doing like San Antonio and Austin,“ said local resident Suzette Quintanilla. “I know this is really popular over there and our advantage is that its right here by our beautiful waterfront!”

Sara Villarreal, another Corpus Christi resident, tries to attend Food Truck Fridays whenever possible.

“I love the idea and I love the turnout and I am so glad to see so many people both from work and the community,” Villarreal said.
