The third annual Fiesta De La Flor is Corpus Christi’s largest festival honoring the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla. Safety is always an important factor during spring break, and drinking and driving can easily ruin your future when it comes to getting a DWI or even worse. You can hurt yourself or someone else. According to Ralph Torres with the Corpus Christi Police Department, area law enforcement agencies will be out looking for people driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking. Bluebonnet Room off limits to students

Four Del Mar College students were given the opportunity to work with NASA engineers at John C. Stennis Space Center in Southern Mississippi in April through the NCAS program. The NCAS, also known as the National Community College Aerospace Scholars program, offers the experience to students interested in careers such as mathematics, science, engineering and technology, also know as the STEM career. “Being at NASA was a wonderful experience. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday that is commemorates Mexico’s victo- ry over France in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Selena celebrated on city buses

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) unveiled buses with Selena’s image April 18. The two wrapped buses will ride around the city to promote the city’s largest annual event, Fiesta De La Flor. “The idea came about on how to honor Selena because she was so proud of Corpus Christi, so I called Suzette Quintanilla to come up with the perfect design and within a few seconds she said yes, and that’s where it grew,”said Ray Hernandez, owner of Iconic Signs. Food Truck Fridays explode with flavor and fun for all

The last Friday of every month, the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts Food Truck Fridays downtown near the American Bank Center. Foghorn file Mayor Nelda Martinez leaps into the bay as part of dunking the mayor to kick off Buc Days. Live music, a tailgate party, rodeo, carnival and a parade for the family will be the highlights of the annual Buc Days festival, which runs through May 1. Buc Days, held on the Corpus Christi bayfront, began in 1938 and is the longest running event in the city, with over 45,000 people attending each year. Press Club seeking books

The Del Mar College Press Club is hosting a book drive and encouraging everyone to donate new or gently used children’s books. Google The books will be donated to the Lichtenstein Center for Early Learning at Del Mar College. The center, at the corner of Baldwin and Staples, serves nearly 60 children.
