Writing center hosts Veterans Day event

The Stone Writing Center hosted a Veterans Day event honoring our nation’s heroes on Nov. 12. The celebration was the campus’ way to recognize Del Mar College students, faculty and staff who have served their country and spread the message that there is a way to get help to receive aid of all types after serving.

“We want to let everyone know that we are here to help with education and to the transition,” said E.J. Goodroe, director of the Veterans Center. “We are here to help make successful students.”

Goodroe, a seargent in the Marines who served six years, including an Afghanistan tour, also used Veterans Services when he continued his education after serving and says it was a lot of help.

The event had cake for guests and was attended by many smiling faces of the Stone Writing Center and Veterans Center.

“The Veterans Center is a one-stop shop to help you get all of your resources and to process all the benefits rightfully earned,” Goodroe said.
