Valdar helps Del Mar officials open the Viking Food Pantry in April 2019. The pantry allows participants to receive up to 35 pounds of food twice each month.

The Student Government Association last fall proposed a food pantry for students who struggle with hunger and food insecurity. The pantry, in Room 122 of the Harvin Center, had its grand opening on April 18. “I think it’s a God-blessed gift. I’ve see students in tears and get frustrated because they are working on an empty stomach. I can see this help increase better grades,” said liberal arts major Ricardo Hernandez.
