“Non-Stop” is the latest action suspense thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy and new Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o. This is Neeson’s second collaboration with Serra with their last film being “Unknown” back in 2011.

After the success of Neeson being involved with “The LEGO Movie” and his role in Seth McFarlane’s newest comedy “A Million Ways to Die in the West” coming in the summer, 2014 is shaping up to be a good year for him. This film, although over the top at times, still manages to be an entertaining ride from beginning to end.

Air Marshall Bill Marks (Neeson) takes a non-stop flight from New York to London where he meets Jen (Moore), a woman who likes to take the seat close to the window, as they sit together on the flight. During the flight Bill receives a text from an unknown number telling him to wire 150 million to an account, otherwise a person dies on the plane every 20 minutes. In addition to this, the hijacker makes it look like Bill is the one taking control of the plane so he can get away clean. Bill must find out who is doing this and why.

The film does a great job of making you feel claustrophobic because the majority of the film is in the air and keep you guessing who is behind all this. Neeson does a great as Bill. His character is not just a person who beats bad guys and it feels like he’s a regular person. Moore does a good job as well. There also are scenes where a text box appears on the screen and the audience can read what Bill is reading on his phone, which adds an interesting element to help move the plot along. The film, however, is undeniably over the top as the hijacker’s plan goes smoothly despite these events that may cause people to nitpick the film. But the film’s climax is well done and will have people on the edge of their seats when it comes on screen.

Overall, “Non-Stop” is a fun over the top thrill ride that is definitely worth checking out on the big screen. If you are looking for a fun action film, this movie is right for you.
