Counseling sessions available at SSC

It’s easy to feel lost or overwhelmed when entering college for the first time or returning after a long break. Students face a whole new world and often don’t know where to turn for quick answers. With the Student Success Center’s Success-on-the-Go sessions, finding helpful information has never been easier.

Success-on-the-Go sessions last about 30 minutes and topics are based on student requests and faculty recommendations to provide information for students on the go.

“The goal is to provide students with the information they need to be successful inside and outside of the classroom,” said Melissa Longoria-Goonan, tutor support services coordinator at the Student Success Center. “Now more than ever students have a wealth of services available to them, but they don’t always know about them.”

Success On-the-Go gives student a quick way to learn what’s available to them on campus.

“For example, more and more students were requesting health information such as help with depression and addictions. Many students might not know that as Del Mar students they have access to free counseling services on campus,” Longoria-Goonan said.

Topics range from academic success to health and wellness and everything in between.

Sessions are held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday from Jan. 27 to April 28 in Room 119 of the St. Clair Building on East Campus.

Success On-the-Go sessions are also available on a one-on-one basis. Call 361-698-2267 to schedule a session.
