It strives to aid students to help them attain academic success, facilitate retention, encourage life-long learning and personal success.
The SSC provides peer-tutoring, success workshops, supplemental instruction and technology resources to assist students to succeed and promote learning outcomes.
The SSC on East Campus is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
Riddhi Patel, a peer tutor for nursing and chemistry, said the SSC is available for every student on campus.
“We have a walk-in service tutoring,” Patel said. “Our tutors have made a B or better in their specific subjects and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.”
All peer-tutors are equipped with the knowledge to help any student with any subject.
“Students can come in whenever they want, at any time of the day and we’ll be here to help them,” Patel said.
The SSC also has a location on the West Campus to better serve all Del Mar College students. The West Campus SSC is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and is located in the ET building, Room 114.
Patel’s advice for any student seeking tutoring is to not wait until the last minute.
“The minute you recognize you are having trouble understanding a concept, just come here and we can help you,” Patel said. “We will explain it in a manner that students will understand and in a language they will understand.”
