Some students spend their break out of town, at the beach, volunteering,  playing video games, or the good ol’ fashion “I’m studying all week.” We’ve asked ten of our vikings what their plans are for spring break. Dallas band Metal Shop to return to Corpus Christi

Brittany Sanchez Reporter Dallas-based band Metal Shop will return to Corpus Christi on March 21 for a show at Brewster Street Ice House. Fans packed the club Feb. 21 to see the band, which is famous for its classic rock music. The group has been performing for seven years and continues to build its fan base around the state. Band members include lead vocalist Michael Diamond, lead guitarist Ritchie Ratchett, lead bass Ginger Roxxx and lead drummer Crash Gordon. Beachfront restaurant perfect for a quick bite

Maria Garza Reporter   Many spring breakers at North Beach may find themselves craving a bite to eat. Fortunately, Pier 99, as its motto says, is “Just Right … on the Water.” Pier 99 Restaurant is located at 2822 N. Shoreline Blvd., between the Lexington Museum on the Bay and the Texas State Aquarium, and has the largest patio on the water in the Coastal Bend. Raffle, rocker, and Ride-In Theater

The 1988 film stars Tom Hanks as the suddenly grown-up version of a 12-year-old boy, Josh, who made a wish at a carnival game to be big and wakes up the next morning in an adult body. Documentary on pot critic to debut during SXSW

Jennifer Gracia Reporter   Hanging out at the beach during spring break is fine, but if you would like a change of scenery then maybe SXSW can serve as an alternative. The annual music and film festival runs March 13-22 in Austin. Among the highlights this year is the premiere of the film “Rolling Papers,” a documentary about the Denver Post’s first pot critic, Ricardo Baca, and the effect it had on journalism.
