Paige, with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, spoke at the Suicide Prevention Symposium of the Coastal Bend, telling of his son’s battle with depression. “Our son was depressed for a year. He went to counseling and they said he wasn’t suicidal, then nine months later he committed suicide,” Paige said. Fund helps students affected by Harvey

With a recent donation of $100,000 into the Hurricane Harvey Student Emergency Assistance Fund, more students will be able to get back to life as normal. The Coastal Bend Community Foundation contributed the funds so students can use them to pay for temporary housing, medication, replacement of personal belongings or books and other academic expenses. According to Karen Silva, development officer with the Del Mar College Foundation, the donation will allow the foundation to help more students and increase the awards that the foundation planned to give out. Trump visits with first responders

Relief services are made available

Students who may not be able to return for the fall semester can receive 100 percent of their tuition refunded. Del Mar College will also be offering eight-week sessions that will start later in the semester. Parking gets worse
